2016 Quinninup Act Belong Commit Market Day

Quinninup Market Day 2016 was going ahead. Q-town volunteers braved hail and wind setting up the day prior, stall holders, entertainers and patrons braved the muddy conditions on Market Day.

A focus of this year’s Q-Market Day was providing activities and creative projects, all free, not usually on offer to children in our area.

Come hail or shine

Despite the conditions, families arrived by the car load and the kids were not disappointed. They climbed, created, played in the pines, and even enjoyed the mud.

The weather gods may not have shined on us, but the day was a success all the same. Patron surveys voiced overall enjoyment, along with some suggestions on how we can improve the day (less mud!).

over 50 stalls

The variety and number of stalls, over 50, was definitely a winner with the adults and children alike and the return of the Quinninup Fire Brigade Donuts Stall was welcomed by all.

The Recycled Art Workshop was a monster hit on Market Day.

Organised and facilitated by local artist Bronwyn Constance, children let loose their imaginations and created works of art from recycled materials, learning new creative skills, and the possibilities of a sustainable world combined with art whilst they were at it.

mud...mud...mud

The weather gods may not have shined on us, but the day was a success all the same. Patron surveys voiced overall enjoyment, along with some suggestions on how we can improve the day (less mud!).

The grown ups had plenty of fun too, enjoying live music, market stalls, fine foods, and wine tasting.

The QCA raised almost $3,500 from our biggest annual event. As ever, this will be put toward improvements, services, and fun stuff in our Q-community.

A huge (like, HUGE) thank you to all volunteers, sponsors, prize donors, stall holders, entertainers, and patrons.

Well done to our many volunteer helpers in the setting up and packing away afterwards, not to forget the willing workers on the day itself.

The Quinninup Market Day is a real community event and once again it is through the tireless efforts of our volunteers and enthusiastic group of helpers that we can make this day a reality.

It is a lot of hard work and we always need more volunteers, so please if you are able to assist in any way please contact us. This is our main fundraising activity and if we do well, we don’t have to work so hard for the rest of the year.

Please contact the QCA if you have some photos of the 2016 Market Day that could be included on the website and the next issue of the Newsletter.
